Kensington Eck Named HAAA’s New Executive Director

Kensington Eck, who has 20 years of experience in the performing arts, has been named the Henderson Area Arts Alliance’s new executive director.

Prior to this position, Eck worked as interim director and patron services manager of HAAA, said a release from the organization.

“I am thrilled to lead the Henderson Area Arts Alliance in its 30th year and look forward to collaborating with a community that has such clear love and support for the arts,” said Eck.

Eck has a vast amount of experience working in the arts as a teacher, vocal and acting coach, actor, singer, director, artistic director, and producer.

According to a release from HAAA, she was nominated for the University of Evansville’s Teacher of the Year for her work at EVSC’s Lincoln School as a Creative Drama Educator. During her time at Lincoln, she developed the only theatre program in a K-8 public school in Indiana, the release said.

Eck is also the founding artistic director for Think PINK Productions, which staged challenging, off-broadway quality plays and musicals in the greater Evansville area from 2010-2019. Through Think PINK, she received the Evansville Celebration of Leadership in an Arts Business award for her work on the Ghostlight Project and staged a reading of “The Taming.” Eck also received recognition in Evansville as a member of the 20 under 40 class in business and as one of Love EVV’s “Leading Ladies” of Evansville.

As executive director, Eck will oversee the planning and implementation of HAAA’s programs, events, and initiatives, ensuring that HAAA remains a leading force in promoting the arts in Henderson and the surrounding areas, said the release. Eck’s vision for HAAA includes expanding community outreach, fostering partnerships with local organizations and enhancing the accessibility of the arts for all residents, according to the release.

HAAA Board President Walker Brunner said he is confident about Eck’s leadership.

“Kensington’s passion for the arts and electric personality are unmatched,” he said in the release. “We are fortunate to have her as our new executive director and are very excited about the future of the Henderson Area Arts Alliance.”

Eck has also performed professionally with the New Harmony Theatre in Indiana and at the Secret Theatre in New York, said the release. Her favorite roles include Cecily in “The Importance of Being Earnest” and Abigail in “The Crucible.”

Her favorite role of all is mom to her daughter, Starling. Outside of work, she enjoys live performances, traveling and spending time with her loved ones, said the release.

FREE Pre-Season Show

Kick off the 2025-26 Season with a FREE performance by Big Bang Boom at the Henderson County Public Library! Established in 2007 out of Greensboro, North Carolina, this rockin’ 3-piece power pop band consists of long-time musicians Chuck Folds, Steve Willard, and Eddie Walker. But this musical trio doesn’t play just any ole’ average music….

These dynamic dads play parent-friendly, educational children’s music! That’s right! After 20 years of touring the grown-up stages, Chuck, Steve, and Eddie decided to expand their horizons and play for parents (like themselves) who want MORE from children’s music.  They write songs with a pop sensibility by cleverly mixing alternative, hip-hop, rock, country, and other genres to create music that both adults AND children can enjoy, because Big Bang Boom songs are fun and they teach you things!

Shows set for 1:30pm and 3:30pm.
