~An Acoustic Evening with Pam Tillis ~
At 7 p.m. on Friday, September 18th, 2015, singer, songwriter and country music superstar, Pam Tillis will open the 22nd season of shows for the Henderson Area Arts Alliance, with an evening of intimate acoustic music. Pam will be joined on stage by two accompanying artist, in beautiful McCormick Hall, located in the Henderson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Henderson Community College. Come join us for an unforgettable night of music, stories and songs as a CMA Female Vocalist of the Year visits Henderson.
A child of Music City royalty, Pam Tillis was determined to find her own way as a singer and songwriter — and she succeeded. A two time Grammy winner, Pam has written songs for some of the top singers in and beyond Nashville, including more than a few of her own hits.
She knows what it’s like to break the platinum barrier, to top the singles charts time and again, to bask in an ovation at her induction as a member of the Opry or play in the intimate hush of the Bluebird Café. She has bathed in the lights of Broadway, posed for Glamour magazine spreads, sung ballads in Bay Area bistros, batted wicked one-liners back to Tom Bergeron on Hollywood Squares, even made cameos in movies.
Take a look at Pam Tillis’ mantel and it’s lined with three CMA awards, two Grammy awards, and a shiny new IBMA award. But look a little closer and you will see snapshots of Pam’s life, memories captured with family and friends. Pictures of Pam with Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett, Clive Davis and many others who Pam once may have idolized but now consider friends. “Those relationships nurture my music, says Pam. “They’re more important than any awards.”
Pam Tillis can tell you what it is like to win big awards, run a record label, sing on Broadway, and sell platinum records, but she’d much rather change the subject to the future. “I’ve traveled a million miles in my career,” says Tillis. “The next million don’t scare me a bit.”
But no matter where she wandered, Pam Tillis never lost her connection to country music. With such hits as “Maybe It Was Memphis,” “Shake the Sugar Tree” and “Let That Pony Run,” this Nashville superstar will be joined onstage by two female accompanying artists playing acoustic guitar, mandolin and fiddle. “Pam’s a first-class fantastic artist, award-winning performer and we’re so proud to have her with us here in Henderson, Kentucky to open our musical, magical million-dollar season. Friday, September 18th, promises to be a Pam evening to remember,” says Greg Gibson, executive director of Henderson Area Arts Alliance.
