John Stanley Hoffman Visionary Society for the Arts

IMG_4702internetWhen Hendersonians are asked to be a part of an organization, they traditionally respond in a generous way.  This generosity, coupled with a desire to enhance the quality of life of all who live here, has contributed to the vibrancy and strength of the arts in our community.

The John Stanley Hoffman Visionary Society for the Arts was created to honor and recognize patrons who share the same spirit and passion for the arts as John Stanley Hoffman.

As a high school student, John Stanley Hoffman played trumpet in the high school band. Many years later he was the bass player in a local bluegrass group, “Canoe Creek.” Classical, some country and even a bit of southern gospel, were genres that he appreciated, and his eclectic preferences also extended to the visual arts.

What was distinct about his appreciation and love for the arts, however, was that he wanted to share them with others.  His purpose was to create an arts community that was accessible to ALL children and adults.  He knew this would broaden their experiences and, in time, elevate and strengthen our community.

Mr. Hoffman served on the committee that helped bring a performing arts center to Henderson, was the first president of the Arts Alliance and acted as co-host for the Fine Arts Center’s opening gala. Mr. Hoffman worked to create an arts community in Henderson so its residents could broaden their experiences, have access to world-class performances and raise the overall quality of life in our community. John Stanley represented the vision of the Arts Alliance and its mission to make the arts accessible to all people.

Soon after John’s death, the John Stanley Hoffman Visionary Society was created to honor and recognize patrons who share his same spirit and passion for the arts.

Patrons belonging to this prestigious society understand the need for arts of all kinds and support a bright future for our community by giving to the Arts Alliance beginning at the $1,000 level.

FREE Pre-Season Show

Kick off the 2025-26 Season with a FREE performance by Big Bang Boom at the Henderson County Public Library! Established in 2007 out of Greensboro, North Carolina, this rockin’ 3-piece power pop band consists of long-time musicians Chuck Folds, Steve Willard, and Eddie Walker. But this musical trio doesn’t play just any ole’ average music….

These dynamic dads play parent-friendly, educational children’s music! That’s right! After 20 years of touring the grown-up stages, Chuck, Steve, and Eddie decided to expand their horizons and play for parents (like themselves) who want MORE from children’s music.  They write songs with a pop sensibility by cleverly mixing alternative, hip-hop, rock, country, and other genres to create music that both adults AND children can enjoy, because Big Bang Boom songs are fun and they teach you things!

Shows set for 1:30pm and 3:30pm.
