The Henderson Area Art Alliance is proud to announce Wild Kingdom’s animal expert, Peter Gros will appear on stage at the Henderson Fine Arts Center Friday, April 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. for a one-night only show. The show is a great way to kick off Spring Break, providing entertainment for both adults and young viewers.
Peter Gros has nearly 30 years of field experience with wildlife. He is a frequent lecturer on conservation and preservation at universities, zoos, theaters and nature and science centers around the nation. In his former position as Director of Land Animals and Vice President at Marine World/Africa USA, he and his team established breeding programs for hundreds of endangered animals.
Peter will bring more than 20 wild animals to the Fine Arts Center stage, allowing viewers to witness the exciting stories up close and learn more about the species. His presentation will include video clips of animals in the wild and funny antidotes that have occurred during his three decades of working with wildlife. Some audience members will be invited on stage for an up close and personal view of the animals.
Peter’s life is dedicated to inspiring young people to care about wildlife and wild places. His goal is to share his passion for the natural world with young people across the planet, inspiring them to protect animals both locally and globally. He continues to be a champion for the natural world, traveling and speaking around the United States and we are honored to have him in Henderson, Kentucky for the evening.
“Peter brings his passion and excitement for wildlife to McCormick Hall and shares his vast experience handling, breeding and protecting animals. This entertaining and educational show is a great way for Henderson residents to start their spring break, with a wildlife adventure. Come see the big and small species Peter introduces to us at the Henderson Fine Arts Center, many of the animals never seen before in Henderson,”” said Greg Gibson, Executive Director of the Henderson Area Arts Alliance.
Come early for a big animal pre-show experience in the lobby and Stagg room. There will be animal merchants, conservation groups, nature organizations, parks, pet adoption and therapy groups to talk with. Sponsors will also be hosting children’s activities in the Stagg room involving healthy eating, exercise and animal fun. Pre-show activities begin at 6:00 p.m.
Through the partnership between Henderson County Schools and the Arts Alliance, district wide third graders will have an opportunity to see Peter Gros’ show at a special 9:00 a.m. school show on Friday, April 8 and learn more about animal conservation and care.
