The Henderson Area Arts Alliance has planned various activities for the upcoming Dance Kaleidoscope show. The show is scheduled for Friday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Preston Arts Center.
The special performance, titled Voices of a Generation, features dancers from Indiana’s longest dancing, professional contemporary dance company, Dance Kaleidoscope performing to music from the 1960s. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Carole King, Stephen Stills, Joni Mitchell, and the Byrds are just a few of the artists that are highlighted in this fun, free-spirited show. The athletic and emotionally-charged dances characterize the youthful disillusionment and eventual rebellion of a generation.
Aside from the evening performance, the dancers will also work with various age groups in the community during their stay.
Monday March 20: Workshop with children K-5 at Holy Name School
Tuesday, March 21: Workshop with special needs children at Riverview School, Work with various youth at John Paul II Elementary and visit Job Corps students ages 16-24 in Morganfield
Wednesday, March 22: Performance for Providence Elementary, visit and performance at WARM Center
Thursday, March 23: Visit Senior Center at The Gathering Place, performance at Dixon Elementary and WARM Center
Friday, March 24: Public school show for fourth graders at 9:00 a.m., evening show at 7:00 p.m.
“We at the Arts Alliance are looking forward to having Dance Kaleidoscope back in Henderson for a 5-day residency as continue through our 23rd season,” Alex Caudill, Executive Director of the Henderson Area Arts Alliance said. “When the troupe came in 2011, they were met with marvelous success and did a wonderful job reaching out to various groups in the community. We look forward to this opportunity again. I’m also thrilled to offer group discounts for this show in addition to our new ticket prices for young people.”
The Dance Kaleidoscope professional ensemble consists of 17 gifted, athletic dancers who are trained in the rigorous modern dance technique of Martha Graham as well as classical ballet. These talented individual artists bring their multi-faceted skills to form an ensemble dedicated to giving world-class performances of contemporary dance.

The Preston Arts Center was formerly the Henderson Fine Arts Center. It is located at the Henderson Community College campus at 2660 South Green Street in Henderson, Kentucky.
